MIDDLE SCHOOL:
We at D.A.V. Gill Nagar adhere to the above quote and thus enable our students at Middle-school to become more independent, resourceful and organised as they mature and acquire the necessary skills to adapt to changes. The students’ transition from the primary to the middle school takes place in a very smooth manner. The students establish a love for learning that lasts well beyond their schooling years. The students strive for academic excellence and reach levels of achievement that reflect their ability and effort.
CURRICULUM
In the middle school we follow a uniform pattern of syllabus across all the D.A.V. group of schools. The students learn the five subjects-English, Language, Mathematics, Science and Social Science in a comprehensive manner through our unique teaching methods. The activities and work sheets given in the various subjects are both fun-filled and educative. Students also showcase their learning through presentations, peer assessment, role plays, demonstrations, etc. This stimulates interest in the students and enhances their higher order thinking skills to interpret the subject matter from diverse perspectives. Apart from these subjects, the students’ skills are honed in the fields of Art, Music, Computer Science, Yoga and Sports. The Value Education and Sloka classes enlighten students with vedic knowledge and help them imbibe universal values, which they cherish all through their lives. The students are provided with opportunities to take part in the inter and intra school competitions which enable them to show case their latent talents. Students are also taken on field trips to different places of historical importance, farms, factories, news-paper, press, etc. These educational trips provide an opportunity for the students to correlate their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.
ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
At middle school the students have Theatre and LEL classes. The theatre classes nurture students’ creative growth, imagination and critical thinking skills. It helps them to develop new ways of viewing the world and expressing themselves. Life Experiential Learning (LEL) classes empower the students to associate the content of their subjects with their lives and the world they live in.
