“A child is not a vase to be filled, but a lamp to be lit.”
As the little ones embark into this whole new world, the second mothers are ready to hold their hands and lead them on a path that dispels ignorance. The early years of education lay a strong foundation for the children based on the curriculum (LSRW), emphasising the development of their cognitive, fine and gross motor skills. Children continue to develop a wide range of skills in their kindergarten days that include physical, social, emotional, linguistic and intellectual skills.
To nurture the above skills, children are guided to:
- Explore new words.
- Speak about various things that they see around them and encounter in their daily lives.
- Learn the art of listening.
Classrooms are embellished in such a way that passive learning keeps happening throughout. Writing is introduced in a gradual and phased manner. Children are provided with a variety of colouring and assignment sheets. Physical activities are carried out in the open environment on a daily basis. Organized activities like sequencing of stories, summarizing, comprehension etc. are conducted regularly to enable children focus on key words and phrases of an assigned text that are worth noting and remembering. Activities and games are conducted to enhance the ability of the child perform individually and within a peer group.
