SCIENCE EXPO COMPETITION

Venue: Sir Thyagaraya college, Washermanpet

Sir Thyagaraya college, Washermanpet, Chennai conducted Interschool science expo competition under two divisions – High school and higher secondary students.

Around 92 schools participated in the competition. Dr.Ravichandran IAS presided over the competition. There were 8 professors in the judgement panel.

Eight students from our school participated and received participation certificates.  Totally 4 projects ( 2 in High school and 2 in higher secondary) were exhibited.

Story telling competition (solo with event) for 1st and 2nd standard was held on 22.07.2025. A total of  32 students participated in the competition. Mrs.P. D.  Radha B.A (Diploma in Montessori and Kindergarten) was the judge for the competition.The students also narrated the story with puppets and properties. Students eagerly partcipated in the competition and based on the voice modulation and ussge of props winners were selected.

An Inter House Fancy Dress Competition was conducted on 6th August 2025 for the students of Class I and II. The theme for this creative event was “Animals”, where students showcased their talent by dressing up as various animals and performing enthusiastically on stage.

A total of 24 participants from Classes I-A and II-A took part in the event. The students were judged on five criteria; Creativity, Enthusiasm, Confidence, Costume Presentation, and Overall Impression, with a maximum score of 100.

 An  Essay Writing Competition on the topic “Self-Reliant India” was organized by Tata Building India in our school on 30.08.25 The program aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of self-reliance and innovation in building a stronger nation.

To provide insight and inspiration, three informative videos on the journey of India towards self-reliance and the vision of Jamshedji Tata were played for the students. Following the videos, an interactive question-and-answer session was held, where students enthusiastically participated .The winners were recognized and presented with books on the life and achievements of Jamshedji Tata, which served as a source of inspiration for all participants.Mr. Sharath from Tata coordinated the session by playing three inspiring videos and by distributing the writing sheets for the essay activity.The essay writing activity was then conducted in classrooms, where students expressed their ideas and perspectives on building a self-reliant nation. Overall, the program was a motivating and insightful experience for the students, encouraging them to think critically and contribute towards the vision of a self-reliant India.

SOLO ROLE PLAY EVENT FOR CLASSES VI TO VIII

A solo role-play event was conducted  on 28.01.26 on the theme “The Diary of a School Bag.” The bag shared its experiences—from being overstuffed to listening to students’ secrets.

It was a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their talents. Students from Classes VI to VIII participated in the competition and performed exceptionally well. The participants were judged based on creativity, voice modulation, costumes, effective use of props, and adherence to the given theme.

The event was judged by Ms. Saghana, Executive creator from Creasakthi.

On February 26, 2026, the fourth-floor auditorium buzzed with intellectual energy as students from Classes VI to VIII participated in the Inter-House Mathematics Quiz.
