 The session gave clarity with techniques like X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, PET and ultrasound provide valuable insights onto the human body and how it is used  for diagnostic and therapeutic.

 The session  Started with an idea mental health is important for overall well-being.

Dr.Sudhachary spoke about the pressure faced by students in their day to day routine activity. She clearly highlighted the source and effect of mental pressure faced by teenagers in the tech world.

Students are overwhelmed to know the root cause of their age related issues, the ways to manage stress and developed decision making and problem solving skills.

The session concluded  with an idea of how to set boundaries and to create a schedule to plan their work regularly to avoid anxiety.

On 23/07/2025, we had the privilege of hosting Ms. Darrshana Jain as the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker for our Career Counselling Program. Ms. Jain is a multifaceted professional—renowned speaker, POSH trainer, certified career counsellor, psychometric analyst, and English exam expert. She provided valuable insights and guidance to students of Classes 10, 11, and 12 from the Commerce stream.

The session began with an engaging ice-breaking activity where Ms. Jain invited students to share their career aspirations and thoughts about their future. She then highlighted five common mistakes people make when starting their careers. Emphasizing the importance of aligning passion with skills, she guided students on how to survive and thrive in today’s competitive world.

She provided a roadmap for students to:

* Discover their interests

* Identify their strengths

* Understand the purpose behind their goals

* Engage in effective career mapping

Ms. Jain also introduced five new-age careers suitable for both Science and Commerce streams. She inspired Commerce students by comparing opportunities to an ocean—encouraging them to explore widely and find what suits them best.

Furthermore, she recommended tools and resources for career development such as- Aptitude tests, short-term courses, mentorship programs and portfolio building.

Ms.  Darrshana Jain concluded the session with some key points:

* Don’t choose your career blindly or follow someone else’s dream

* Discover your passion

* Think beyond traditional paths

* Always start early and stay ahead

The students found the session extremely informative and motivating. Many expressed their gratitude, saying that Ms. Jain had helped them envision a brighter future.

The session aimed at enhancing self-awareness among students and addressing common adolescent challenges related to brain development, emotional regulation, and digital distractions.

For Classes IX and X, the topics covered were:

* Behavioural changes due to brain chemicals

* Anger and healthy coping mechanisms

* Understanding emotions during adolescence

* Developing focus and concentration

* Forming healthy friendships

* “Stranger Danger” and personal safety

Students connected well with the session, gaining practical tools to manage their emotions and make responsible decisions in their daily lives.

For Classes XI and XII, the discussion focused on:

* Common worries and emotional concerns in teens

* Distractions, especially from gadgets and mobile use

* Self-reflection through personality and mobile usage tests

* Recognizing the inner voice and challenging negative thoughts

* Setting goals and building self-awareness

Students were highly engaged which helped them better understand their strengths, distractions, and areas for improvement.

The session concluded with a personal Q&A segment, where Mrs. Jothi patiently interacted with each student individually. She ensured that every doubt was addressed and gave time to each student until all their concerns were clarified, creating a safe and open space for one-on-one dialogue.

Indian Nuclear scientist, formerly with the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Chennai.

 TOPIC : “A Wide Array of Careers in Science and for Scientists”

The session began with the topic “What is Science and Who are Scientists?”, highlighting how scientists use their findings to solve real-life problems and improve life for everyone.

The speaker explained that science offers a huge variety of career pathways, including physicists, chemists, astronomers, and agricultural scientists. Students also gained clarity on questions such as “How can we stay motivated?”, “How can we use available resources for upcoming generations?”, and why it is important to never stop asking questions like “Why?” and “How?”

Dr. J. Daniel Chellappa gave an informative talk on nuclear medicine and its applications, along with State and Central Government projects such as Vaanavil, STEM education initiatives, and the creation of an artificial lake in Chennai.

The special talk concluded with an inspiring message to follow role models like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and C.V. Raman.

The program was highly interactive and engaging. Staff and students left with the takeaway message from the inspiring quote:

 TOPIC : “DRUG FREE TAMILNADU- STUDENT AWARENESS PROGRAMME”

                    A special awareness programme titled “Towards a Drug-Free Tamil Nadu” was conducted to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of making healthy life choices.

The session inspired students to stay away from drugs, promote a positive lifestyle, and contribute to building a safe and healthy society.

Students were taken oath for creating awareness and promote the commitment to fight against the growing menace of drug abuse.

The program was concluded with our Principal sir Towards a Anti Drug-Free club have been formed in our schools led by teacher incharge for the Healthy Generations”

Ms. Jayashree’s engaging presentation, enriched by her deep experience and passion for archaeology, captivated the young audience. Her use of a PowerPoint presentation and an interactive session encouraged active participation, especially during the Q&A segment.

She provided insightful information on archaeology, emphasizing the significance of exploration, excavation, and conservation. Her talk not only educated but also inspired many students, potentially igniting interest in pursuing archaeology as a future career.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our Principal for their continued support in enriching the student community through such meaningful initiatives.

Resource Person: Col Ganesh Bhat

A special talk was organized on 2nd September 2025 for the students of Classes IX to XII. The guest speaker was Col. Ganesh Bhat, SM, a decorated Army officer and an alumnus of the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.

Col. Ganesh Bhat delivered an inspiring and interactive session focusing on leadership skills. He began by engaging the students with thought-provoking questions such as “Who is a leader?”, which encouraged them to reflect and participate actively.

During his talk, he shared his first-hand experiences of Operation Vijay (1999), giving valuable insights into the challenges faced by the Indian Army. He also explained about the weapons used during the Kargil war and compared them with the modern weapons and technologies available to our armed forces today. He proudly highlighted that India is the 4th strongest military power in the world.

The Colonel also spoke about his responsibilities as a Forward Observation Officer, which gave students a deeper understanding of the courage, discipline, and precision required in military service. The session was further enriched with videos and photographs of the Kargil war and other operations, which made the talk more impactful and engaging.

Apart from military strategies, he emphasized the importance of physical fitness, mental toughness, and emotional intelligence in building strong individuals capable of serving the nation.

The program concluded with a question-and-answer session, where students clarified their doubts and interacted directly with the officer. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude for his valuable time and inspiring words.

This talk left a strong impact on students, giving them a deeper appreciation of the sacrifices made by the Army and motivating them to develop qualities of leadership, discipline, and patriotism.

         The session provided valuable insights into the rapidly growing fields of crime investigation and scientific analysis.

   Students were introduced to various career options in Forensic Science, including Forensic Scientist, Crime Scene Investigator, DNA Analyst, Fingerprint Expert, Document Examiner, and Ballistics Expert. It was highlighted that these professionals play a crucial role in supporting police departments, CBI, NIA, cyber cells, hospitals, and private forensic laboratories.

The talk also focused on the field of Criminology, which deals with the study of crime, criminal behaviour, and the justice system. Career paths such as Criminologist, Crime Analyst, Probation or Correctional Officer, Victim Support Officer, Juvenile Justice Worker, and Criminal Profiler were explained.

Students learned that    criminologists work closely with police agencies, courts, prisons, NGOs, and research organisations.

Overall, the session was highly informative and enriched students’ understanding of the diverse and meaningful career opportunities available in the fields of Criminology and Forensic Science.

 This session encouraged students to explore professions that contribute to public safety, justice, and societal well-being.

           An orientation programme was conducted to introduce the DAV Chennai Alumni Portal to the students and staff. The session explained the objectives of the alumni network and encouraged active participation from former students of all DAV Chennai schools.

The presentation highlighted the key benefits of registering on the alumni portal. Members can reconnect with their classmates, receive updates from the school, and explore opportunities to contribute to their alma mater. The portal also facilitates networking by allowing alumni to share interests, post or apply for job and internship opportunities, and provide mentorship to current students. Additionally, alumni can be nominated for awards and gain priority access to special events and facilities.

   The orientation concluded with an overview of upcoming initiatives such as Kala Kendram, Krida Kendram, Blood Donation Camp, Golden Jubilee Events, and Stories Around Science, aimed at conecting people and technology.

               The resource person explained the importance of Mathematics in understanding nature, science, and daily life. He illustrated real-world examples such as hexagonal honeycombs, tessellations, packing patterns, and shadows to measure heights. The concept of determining the Earth’s circumference using angles and sunlight was also demonstrated.

Students were Introduced seating arrangements based on optimal viewing angles, and mathematical applications in astronomy, including the shapes and distances of celestial bodies.

The session emphasised how simple mathematical principles are connected to problem-solving and scientific reasoning.

The talk was highly informative and engaging, helping students appreciate the relevance of mathematics beyond textbooks. It encouraged logical thinking and a deeper understanding of how mathematical ideas shape the world around us.

Vidya Saadhan Week Celebration was organized for the students of Classes IX to XII with the objective of providing experiential learning and career-oriented guidance. The programme aimed to motivate students and create awareness about academic planning, skill development, internships, stress management, and future career opportunities.

The session was conducted by our distinguished alumni, Ms. Varsha Devi and Mr. Nithin Narayanan, who served as the resource persons for the programme. They shared their valuable experiences related to academics, essential life skills, internships, and effective stress management techniques. Their real-life insights inspired the students and emphasized the importance of continuous learning and adaptability in a rapidly changing world.

The speakers especially enlightened the students of Classes IX and X about Evergreen Commerce as a promising stream. They highlighted the growing importance of entrepreneurship, encouraging students to develop innovative thinking, problem-solving skills, and a business mindset. The resource persons also explained how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the field of commerce, particularly in areas such as digital marketing, finance, data analysis, e-commerce, and business decision-making.

They discussed various career options, emerging trends, and the scope of higher studies in commerce. The session also included information about top colleges offering commerce programmes and the placement and entrepreneurial opportunities available after pursuing commerce-related courses.

The interactive session encouraged students to ask questions and actively participate in discussions. The programme was highly informative and motivational, helping students gain clarity about their academic choices and future career paths.
