SEVA MAITHRI ACTIVITY
The students of class VIII of DAV Mat Hr Sec School took an initiative to clean the premises of the playground on 30 June 2025.
The students participated enthusiastically by collecting the wastes and disposing it properly.
This experience fostered teamwork and civic values in them.
The drive gave them the impetus to keep the surroundings clean and respect the environment.
SOCIAL CLUB INAUGURATION
The day commenced with the Click Chennai – Photo Contest, a vibrant beginning to the Social Club activities. Our esteemed jury member, Shri. Balu from the Photographic Society of Madras, began the judging process for the enthusiastic participants from Classes VI to VIII.
The theme focused on “Exploring the Transformation of Chennai’s Urban Environment, Heritage, and Society.” Shri. Balu also interacted with the students, offering valuable inputs and tips on photography skills, enriching their understanding of visual storytelling.
Following the contest, we entered into the much-awaited Social Club Inauguration Ceremony.
Our chief guest, Shri. Krishnakumar T.K. (B.Sc., GNIIT), a passionate heritage enthusiast, travel blogger, self-published author, and public speaker, inaugurated the Social Club by lighting the Kuthu Vilakku.
In his inspiring speech, he highlighted the teachings of Swami Dayananda Saraswati and the values of D.A.V. culture.
SEVA MAITHRI ACTIVITY
In lieu of the Teacher’s day, as a token of respect and gratitude , the students equipped with colourful chart papers, glitter pens, stickers, and lots of imagination made ‘Thank You ‘ cards.
The creativity was portrayed in the flowers,books and balloons they drew. The cards also contained messages about their teachers who make learning fun,guide them and encourage them.
The children handed over the cards made by them to the teachers with lots of love and affection. The children felt happy and proud. This activity taught them that even a small gesture, like a handmade card, can create big moments of happiness. Truly, it was a day full of gratitude and creativity!

As part of the Health and Wellness program, students from Classes VI to VIII participated enthusiastically to promote nutritional awareness.
* Class VI showcased the importance of Dry Fruits
* Class VII highlighted the nutritional value of Pulses
* Class VIII presented the benefits of consuming Millets
Each class shared informative presentations supported by charts, explaining the health benefits of these food items in our daily life. Students also brought healthy snacks, which they enjoyed together during snack time.
Our respected Principal Sir and teachers shared valuable tips on maintaining healthy eating habits. Their guidance further enriched the students’ understanding of nutrition and wellness.
The event was a great success in raising awareness about the nutritional benefits of everyday foods and encouraged students to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
As a part of this initiative, the Vidya Saadhan team contributed by distributing healthy snacks to the Principal, teachers and non teaching staff, supporting the theme “Eat Right, Stay Bright.”

ENGLISH CLUB INAUGURATION
On August 7, 2025, the English Club was officially inaugurated. During the ceremony, our revered Principal Shri Ramana Velavan sir inducted the following students as the English club committee members

Students from grades 6 to 12 presented a variety of programmes which included a dramatic interpretation of Shakespeare’s poem “The Seven Ages of Man,” an English speech, a mono-act, a dance, and a song. Following the performances, our Principal Shri Ramana Velavan sir ,shared some words of wisdom and encouraged all the students to participate actively in the future club events. The program concluded on a high note with a sincere vote of thanks, delivered with warmth and gratitude.
SEVA MAITHRI ACTIVITY - CLASS V- PAPER MACHE
The primary goal of this project was to introduce students to the principles of recycling and upcycling by transforming waste paper into a functional and artistic object. The project also aimed to develop students’ fine motor skills, patience, and ability to follow multi-step instructions.
ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET
The Annual Athletic Meet was conducted on 25th August 2025 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

SEVA MAITHRI ACTIVITY-VISIT TO ARUNODAYAM SPECIAL SCHOOL
As part of the Seva Maithri initiative, students and teachers from DAV Gill Nagar, along with Pallikaranai and Puluchur branches, visited Arunodayam Special School in Thiruthani. The school in-charge, Mr. Jayavel, introduced the pre-vocational, primary, and secondary groups, and our students observed ADL training and specialized teaching methods . It was an eye-opening experience, helping them understand the lifestyle and challenges of children with intellectual disabilities in rural areas.
FOOD COURT CONDUCTED BY COMMERCE DEPARTMENT
On the occasion of Children’s Day, the Commerce Group students of our school organised a one-day food stall event in the fourth-floor auditorium. Nine stalls were set up, each offering a variety of healthy snacks and quick bites prepared or arranged by the students. The initiative aimed to provide practical exposure to fundamental business concepts and promote experiential learning.
Students from Classes 6 to 12 visited the stalls during their allotted timings. The food items were sold at nominal rates to ensure affordability without compromising on quality. Each stall was creatively arranged, reflecting the students’ innovation, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit.
The event received an overwhelming response from the student community, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere. Although managing the large crowd posed occasional challenges, the Commerce students handled the situation responsibly and efficiently. Through this experience, they strengthened their skills in customer service, inventory management, teamwork, communication, and real-time decision-making.

SEVA MAITHRI ACTIVITY - TRIP TO GOSHALA
Students of DAV, Gill Nagar School visited the Goshala at Ayanavaram as part of the Seva Maithri activity. The visit helped students observe the management, care, and services provided to cows and other cattle.
During the visit, students were able to observe that
🐄The goshala was spacious and well-ventilated.
🏘️There were separate sheds for calves, sick animals, and milching cows.
🌿The diet consisted of green fodder and dry fodder.

WREATH CEREMONY PARTICIPATION
4th December 2025
The school choir team of DAV Gill Nagar had the privilege of participating in the Wreath Ceremony organized by the Indian Navy Force at the War Memorial. This was the first time the school was invited to participate in this esteemed event, and it was a great honor for the students and staff.
The ceremony was attended by higher officials from all three wings of the Indian Armed Forces, namely the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The choir team rendered soulful songs, which were appreciated by the dignitaries present.
The students and staff reported at the War Memorial at 7:00 am, and the program commenced thereafter. The event was a great learning experience for the students, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their talents and pay respects to the nation.
After the program, the students and staff were offered hi-tea, which was a pleasant gesture.
Sincere thanks to the management for providing the students with this wonderful opportunity to participate in the Wreath Ceremony and gain valuable exposure.
NAVY DAY - SOCIAL CLUB ACTIVITY

As we approach the end of the calendar year, we took a moment to express our gratitude—to the Almighty, to our parents, teachers, friends, family members, and even to ourselves—for making our journey through 2025 meaningful and memorable.
As part of the Social Club activity, our students created a Wall of Gratitude to honour and salute the Indian Navy.
A PowerPoint presentation was displayed showcasing Navy Day celebrations along with the highlights of the Indian Navy, emphasising their role in safeguarding our maritime borders and making every Indian proud.
The team of aspiring defence officers from Class VII—
Ritish (Athlete), Sai Dharshan (Football Player), Akshan Bose (Karate Cadet), and Arjun Rao (Cricketer)—performed a courageous and disciplined march past. They then invited our beloved Principal to unveil the Wall of Gratitude.
Our Principal penned the first message of gratitude on the wall, followed by teachers and students.
The students also took a pledge to honour and respect the Indian Navy, appreciate their courage and sacrifice, and uphold their own responsibility towards the safety, progress, and dignity of the nation.
This meaningful activity created a powerful impact on young minds and understand that “every sailor serves the nation for a reason.”
It also helped students learn values beyond their textbooks, making the Social Club activity truly enriching.
SCIENCE AND MATHS CLUB INAUGURATION

The Science and Mathematics Club of our school was inaugurated on 08-08-2025 with great enthusiasm and participation from students and staff. The event began with a warm welcome address by Student secretary of Science Club, highlighting the objectives of the club — to nurture scientific curiosity, develop logical thinking, and encourage innovation among students.
Our respected Principal, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the role of science and mathematics in shaping problem-solving skills and preparing students for the future. The chief guest, Dr, J Daniel Chellappa, Eminent Nuclear scientist officially inaugurated the club and inspired the audience with an engaging speech on how science and mathematics influence everyday life and technological progress.
The inaugural session also featured a presentation of the club’s logo and motto, symbolizing curiosity, exploration, and excellence. Students showcased their talents through live science experiments, intriguing mathematical puzzles, and a model display, reflecting their enthusiasm for learning beyond the classroom.
The programme concluded with the unveiling of the club’s annual plan, including workshops, exhibitions, quizzes, and project activities aimed at fostering a spirit of inquiry and teamwork. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Student secretary of Maths Club, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
The inauguration marked the beginning of an exciting journey for the Science and Mathematics Club, inspiring students to think critically, explore creatively, and excel with confidence.
PRIMARY SPORTS DAY
The Primary Sports Day was conducted on 9th January 2026 at the Primary School Playground with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
MY BELOVED OCEAN
On this 4th of February 2026, the D.A.V. Matriculation Higher Secondary School Auditorium resonated with a shared commitment to marine conservation during the 5th “MY BELOVED OCEAN” International Children’s Environmental Drawing Contest Felicitation Ceremony. Organized by Human in Love and sponsored by Korean Re, the event commenced with a soulful invocation song and a warm welcome by the Principal, Shri. V. Ramana Velavan. From the stirring “Save Ocean” speech by young Sanjhana of Class 3A to the insightful words of Dr. Vineeta Hoon from CARESS, the ceremony highlighted the urgent need to protect our blue planet.
The highlight of the day was the celebration of artistic talent across Classes 1 to 7. While many students participated with great zeal, L. Sai Dharshan of Class 7 achieved a stellar milestone by being recognized as a winner, receiving his certificate amidst thunderous applause. He donated a number of books to the school library . Following heartfelt feedback from the participants and a gracious Vote of Thanks the ceremony concluded with the National Anthem. It was a day where art met advocacy, inspiring every student to become a guardian of the ocean’s future.
BOOK FAIR
our school organised for Two days ie. 6.2.26 & 7.2.26 (8:30a.m-4.30p.m) Book Fair Exhibition by Kids2day International Publishers Pvt Ltd. for our students to cultivate reading habits and gradually wean children away from excessive screen time and social media addiction by reconnecting them with the joy. Many books were arranged in the Book Fair and as per the directions given by Mrs. Prabha Priya (Lead Librarian).Her presence at our Primary wing during inauguration ceremony made this day a grant success. Parents came along with their children to visit the Book Fair and purchased the books today and made the book fair a successful one.

*The school successfully organised a Project Based Learning (PBL) Exhibition with the objectives of promoting experiential learning, critical thinking, creativity, and
collaboration among students.
*The exhibition provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their understanding of concepts through hands-on projects and real-life applications.
*Students actively participated and displayed projects related to their topics.
*Each project reflected the students ability to research, plan, design, and present their ideas effectively.
*Class VII -COLLECTION AND CLASSIFICATION.
Each team displayed their collection and explained how the items were classified based on different attributes.
*Class VIII-SURVEY BASED LEARNING
Each team displayed the survey conducted on their chosen topics and presented the results in different graphical patterns. A final conclusion arrived with the help of survey results . Students also prepared PPT showing their survey data and graphical representations.
*Students confidently explained their projects, with good communication skills and conceptual clarity.
*Teachers guided the students throughout the project preparation, encouraging teamwork, inquiry-based learning, and problem-solving skills.
*Overall, the Project Based Learning Exhibition was an enriching and inspiring experience and will definitely be useful in their academics.
PRIMARY CARNIVAL
The Primary Carnival was conducted on 13.02.26 in the school ground at the Primary Wing. A number of games such as Bouncing Castle, Merry-Go-Round, Mini Train, Snow Bowling, Bubble House, and Feed the Clown were arranged.
Students were very excited and thoroughly enjoyed all the games. They also enjoyed fresh popcorn. Adding to their enjoyment, a magic show was organised in the fourth-floor auditorium.
It was a fun-filled day of entertainment for the students.
FAREWELL
Report on Farewell Ceremony for Class XII

The farewell ceremony for the outgoing Class XII students was conducted on 20th February with great enthusiasm and warmth by the students of Class XI. The programme commenced at 3:00 p.m. with a heartfelt welcome address, setting a gracious and emotional tone for the evening.
A special Hawan was performed for the Class XII students, invoking divine blessings for their bright future and success in the forthcoming public examinations. The spiritual atmosphere added significance and solemnity to the occasion.
Following this, one student representative from each Class XII section expressed their gratitude towards the management, teachers, and fellow students. They fondly shared their memorable experiences of fourteen years of learning, growth, and cherished moments in the school.
Subsequently, folders were distributed to all Class XII students. These folders contained the public examination timetable, the Gayatri Mantra slogan, and their respective class group photographs, serving as meaningful keepsakes of their school life.
Three of our senior teachers then addressed the gathering. Their inspiring speeches were filled with valuable advice, blessings, and words of encouragement for the students as they prepare to step into a new phase of life.
The cultural programme presented by the Class XI students added colour and vibrancy to the event. It included a lively dance performance, an engaging game show, and a melodious song dedicated to the outgoing batch. Snacks were later distributed to all the students.
The Class XII students looked elegant in their traditional and modern attire, while the Class XI students attended the function in their school uniforms, symbolising responsibility and respect.
The programme concluded around 6:00 p.m. with joyful memories and emotional farewells, making it a memorable occasion for everyone present.
SEVA MAITHRI ACTIVITY
On February 23, 2026, under the inspiring guidance of Principal Sir, our students from classes 6 to 11 participated in a meaningful initiative as part of “Seva Maithri.” The students generously donated groceries and stationery items to support children with special needs.
The donated items were thoughtfully segregated by our dedicated volunteers and distributed among three noble institutions:
1.’Gnanadharshan Seva Foundation’
Home for visually challenged individuals in Mehta Nagar, Aminjikarai.
2.’Vasantham School’
Located in Mogappair, serving children with special needs.
3.’Manasa Special School’
Situated in Maduravoyal, dedicated to empowering children with disabilities.
Through this noble act, our students not only extended their help but also gained valuable awareness about the challenges faced by differently-abled individuals. They learned the importance of empathy, kindness, and community service—understanding that true help comes from the heart without expecting anything in return.
This experience has fostered a deep sense of social responsibility and compassion among our students, inspiring them to become responsible citizens committed to making a positive difference in society.
